Rich Pickins

Players of original music in a mix of styles: somewhere between rock, blues, and Americana

A little about us...

The band originally formed in March 2012 after criss-crossing paths on the Norwich UK folk scene. Please see the Alumni page for the original lineup.

Currently we are three.

Ben Payne is from Norwich, is a classically trained violinist and is resigned to hearing the rest of us refer to it as a fiddle. One of our alumni introduced him to the band and the rest is our history in the making. Ben also plays the keyboard, sings, and has written half of our original songs while regularly playing classical concerts around Norwich.

That lady in the middle is Kentish maid Patricia Morris-Helm who sings the female leads or an appropriate harmony for the other numbers. Patricia’s experience comes by way of choirs and the chorus in amateur dramatic musical productions. Patricia is married to a band member but more about that later. She also shakes various percussion implements.

The band’s token Americano, Morris Helm, authored this blurb and partners the lady above maritally. Morris richly picks the banjo, acoustic guitar, Stratocaster, and simultaneously sings and can chew gum if required. His band experience reflects the eclectic influences of folk, blues, prog, and meaningful lyrics. He ( aka, I ) grew up in New York State then Davenport, Iowa, USA.
